Dear Applicant:
Thank you for applying for a scholarship to attend the 2025 Her Spirit Writing Retreat taking place August 24-28 at the Chaminade Resort and Spa in Santa Cruz, California.
The scholarship will cover housing, meals, and workshops. The scholarship will not cover transportation and transfers to and from the retreat. Additionally, the two scholarship winners will share a double occupancy room unless otherwise specified.
This application process will be open from July 22, 2025, until midnight Pacific Time on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
The registration fee for this application is $25.00. You will be redirected to the payment page at the end of the form. The two recipients of the scholarships will be notified in early August 2025.

Submit an essay between 200-250 words explaining why you feel you should be a recipient of this scholarship.
Upload up to three pages of a writing sample, double-spaced.

All parts of the application will be considered in determining the scholarship winners, and all materials are confidential. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Two scholarship recipients will be selected based on financial need, the seriousness of their intent to make a writing life, their continuing effort to move their writing forward, and what they’ve done to improve their craft.
Eligibility
The scholarship is open to all women and those who identify as women. Each applicant must be 18 years old and must not have previously received a Story Summit Scholarship or a Write a Great Story Foundation Scholarship.
If you are not able to travel to Santa Cruz, California for the retreat, please do not apply for this scholarship.
The scholarship cannot be exchanged for cash in lieu of attending the Her Spirit Writing Retreat.
